The Pros:Free. Matches the experience from the desktop version. Good to save on long distance and roaming in another country where you have wifi.
The Cons:Functionality limited to WiFi only. No push notifications, and can't be run in background.
Skype for iPhone is a free iPhone application for making Skype-to-Skype calls in any WiFi zone. As long as a user is in range of a Wi-Fi network, he or she can make 100% free calls to other Skype users OR calls to landlines at an inexpensive per-minute rate.
Keep in mind, however, that users can still log into Skype from a conventional GPRS/EDGE network and then use its instant messaging services anywhere — even without a WiFi network. Note also that the app takes advantage of several iPhone functionalities. For instance, a picture taken by the iPhone can be uploaded onto Skype to use as an avatar or send to somebody else. Second, the app allows for a user to accept incoming conference calls — although it doesn’t allow a user to initiate one.
