I Am T-Pain is an app for the iPhone & iPod touch platform. This application is developed by Smule, the creators of Ocarina, another app that turns your iPhone into a musical instrument. The I Am T-Pain app utilizes a simple concept: take the user’s voice and run it through Antares auto-tune to produce vocals like t-Pain’s.
Users can also auto-tune their voices to a variety of included background beats, both licensed T-Pain songs and original beats. While most of the tracks to choose from are free, aspiring auto-tuners can also purchase additional tracks directly through the app. Additional features include the ability to record, plus karaoke-style lyrics so one can sing along with the music. User-created songs can be uploaded in .m4a (iTunes AAC) to Smule’s servers, sent via email,or published to social networking sites such as MySpace and Facebook.
