gdgt

Released July, 2009

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Large community at launch. Clean design. Clear focus on gadgets.

The Cons:No pro/con lists - and we'll know where they got it from once they add it. Very busy UI sometimes..can be difficult to navigate. Many concepts are unoriginal (tagging, discussions, friending) and are in a saturated consumer space.

gdgt is a gadget-focused product community website launched by former Engadget/Gizmodo editor in chief Peter Rojas and Ryan Block On July 1st, 2009. The site is a social network focused on products where people can create lists of products they "Have", "Had" or "Want".

Members can broadcast and share these lists with their friends across other social networks to view and comment on. On the product pages themselves members can engage in discussions revolving around a product's issues, tips and hacks. The site features member-editable structured product information which is used in their "gadget finder" and gadget comparison sections. Rumors peg the current funding behind the project at $500,000 in angel investment with an undisclosed amount from the well-off founders.
