Badaboom
$30.00
Released November, 2008
The Pros:More features than AMD/ATI's Avivo video converter. Can also be used with Nvidia's last generation graphics cards (8000 series) unlike ATI's. Considerably faster than CPU-based transcoding.
The Cons:Costs $30 while Avivo video converter is free. Expensive shipping to anywhere other than the USA. Requires a fairly recent Nvidia graphics card.
Badaboom is an inexpensive audio/video transcoder that utilizes Nvidia's new CUDA GPGPU-acceleration platform. Utilizing any Nvidia 8000-series graphics card or newer, users can utilize their GPU to accelerate the transcoding process by many times.
Introduced in November 2008, version 1.1 is due in mid-December with a number of upgraded features. Badaboom costs $29.99.
