Since the early 1990s, Media Composer has been the dominant non-linear editing system in the film and television industry on first Mac and then also on Windows. Avid's main competitor is Final Cut Pro but in the high end of the market, Avid's market share has not been noticeably affected, and is still used in almost all major film productions.
